All that I know about my relatives is told by my Mom and my Grandmother, Svetlana Peltzer.

My Grandgrandmother Sonya (Sheindel) died when I was 2 months old. She was the only person, who had relations with my family’s past. Actually, she was a sister of Pinkhus Ackman who had left small provincial town called Proskurov and went to the USA at 1916 (or in 1913). And soon he became a founder of your family.
So, it was a beginning of the 20st century. Young Leja and Mendel found their family. They have seven or eight children. The elder is Pinkhus and after him are: Riva (Rebecca), Sonya (Sheindel), Solomon, Charna, Dvoira and Manya.
Mendel was a teacher so his children were elementary educated. Mendel and Leja were tragically died before the Revolution in Russia in 1917.
Pinkhus left while my Grandgrandmother Sonya and her elder sister Riva started to bring up younger children.
Solomon and Dvoira became doctors and Charna became a teacher.
But Riva and Sonya couldn’t get an education, they were busy with their younger brother and sisters.
Manya was suffering from tuberculosis and soon she died at the time of War in Russia in 1919-1921.
Pinkhus left while my Grandgrandmother Sonya and her elder sister Riva started to bring up younger children.
Solomon and Dvoira became doctors and Charna became a teacher.

After that it was The Second World War. We call it like The Great Patriotic War.
Charna and Solomon were in the blockade of Leningrad (St Petersburg).
Riva and Sonya with my Grandmother Svetlana were evacuated to Uzbekistan.
My Grandgrandfather Joseph Peltzer fought to death with Nazis.

It’s a great misery to talk about that… My Grandmother is a victim of the Holocaust and now she lives in Israel.
The family was united after the War in Simpheropol, Crimea.
Riva had a letter that was addressed to her from Milton and I have displayed it here. It used to be dangerous to talk about you at the period of USSR.
My grandfather (Svetlana’s husband) was a chief engineer in the secret munitions factory and he could be arrested by KGB (Committee of the State Security).

Nowadays there is no one of Ackman’s sisters, this surname is inheriting by Your children in Your family. I don’t know the facts of how did Pinkhus started his life in America, it’s a puzzle for me. I’m really interested in details of my relatives’ life in USA.
